Magicum Berlin Magic Museum

About us

The MAGICUM private museum, Berlin Magic Museum, was founded in 2014 by the couple Auguste Gischler and Rob Brown. As former dancers, they performed at various international theatres, including as soloists at the Friedrichstadt-Palast in Berlin.

They danced for many years as a dance couple (and with their own dance group, Art Nouveau21) on the MS Deutschland – the ‘Traumschiff’ – and explored large parts of the world. This enabled them to collect numerous artefacts and cultural knowledge from a wide variety of countries. Thus, the idea for MAGICUM was born.

Auguste Gischler and Rob Brown grew up surrounded by diverse cultural influences. Their roots extend not only across different continents but also across different cultural ways of life. This heritage is also reflected in the museum.

The museum combines elements of theatre with the colourful diversity of the world. It sees itself as a living total work of art in a state of constant flux. Every detail is designed with great care and creativity. Many ideas also arise from exchanges with visitors.

In terms of content, the MAGICUM links the world of magic with its scientific, cultural and historical origins. It demonstrates how closely magic and science are intertwined – drawing freely on the philosopher Tommaso Campanella’s idea that every technology initially appears as magic before it is understood. The result is a place that combines knowledge, entertainment and personal discovery, and which is constantly evolving.

A place where everyone feels welcome.
